Online casinos under Ontario rules
Ontario runs a regulated online gambling market, and its legal sites appear on a public list kept by iGaming Ontario. This page answers the usual questions about that market and explains how the paid links on this guide work.

How the regulated market works
Ontario's regulated online gambling market opened on April 4, 2022. Private operators run their own sites, while iGaming Ontario conducts and manages the online gambling those operators offer. The AGCO regulates that market. A private online casino is legal in Ontario only when it holds AGCO registration and an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario.
OLG.ca stands apart from the private operators. It is Ontario's government-run online casino. A reader in Greater Sudbury can therefore meet two kinds of legal online casino site. One is the government-run site, and the others are private sites that meet both conditions above. BetGuard, covered below, also includes OLG.ca in its exclusions.
Checking a site and opting out
The official list of regulated online gambling sites is the iGaming Ontario directory at igamingontario.ca. Online play is 19+. It is allowed only while the player is physically in Ontario, so a Sudbury resident on a trip out of province cannot play from there.
BetGuard (betguard.ca), run by iGaming Ontario, lets a person 19 or older exclude themselves from every regulated Ontario online gambling site at once, OLG.ca included. Land-based casinos are not covered, so the casino on Bonin Road falls outside it. For casinos, OLG's self-exclusion program is My PlayBreak: a break lasts 3 or 6 months, or 1 to 5 years, and bars entry to every Ontario casino. It cannot be cancelled early. Enrolment is by calling the OLG Support Centre at 1-800-387-0098 or asking staff at a casino.
How this guide is paid
Paid links appear only on the home page of this guide, and each one is marked Ad. There are three: one in the menu, one under the first screen and one near the end. They lead to a private online casino partner that is not named here, and that partner can change. The guide earns a commission from those links.
This desk does not check the partner. Readers should check any online casino against the official provincial directory of regulated sites, linked above. The partner has no connection with the venue on Bonin Road or its operator. Links to that venue, to provincial pages and to help services are never paid.
